Welcome to Bae Area And Beyond!
We’re glad you’re here.
We are Shreeyeh and Kiran and we’re so excited to share a bit about us. We’re currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area, and, like many of you, we found ourselves grounded in 2020. Flying wasn’t a popular option that year, so we began driving around California.
We come from pretty diverse backgrounds. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, my family moved to Chennai, India when I was 10. I lived there for 7 years before coming back to the US for college. On the other hand, Kiran was born and brought up in Chennai and come to the US for post graduate education.
Though we’re not originally from California, we take every opportunity to travel around this beautiful state. We plan our trips to be super detailed, sometimes exploring more than even some natives have! It’s all about making the most wherever we are.
Now, about our name of our blog: Bae Area and Beyond. Before we met, Kiran was working in California, and after we got married, I moved here from the Midwest, literally moving to where my “bae” is.
I’ll be honest, I used to think California was a bit overrated, especially as a die-hard Chicago fan. But since moving here in 2020 and traveling around, I’ve completely fallen in love with the state. Now, California is my “bae” too, and we can’t wait to share our love for it with you through our blog.

Where We’ve Been:
San Francisco Bay Area
We’ve been living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2020. We’ve travelled all around the Bay Area for our favorite restaurants, meeting up with friends, scenic attractions or local events. What we love about the Bay Area is that it doesn’t get scorching hot or freezing cold – good weather all year round!
Areas in and around include:
Los Angeles
We’ve been to LA a bunch of times whether it’s to explore downtown or visit Universal Studios Hollywood and will plan to head down again in the future. I love LA because I always think I’ll bump into a celebrity.

San Diego
We went to San Diego during the last week of December to celebrate my birthday. I love how big the city is yet it isn’t too crowded or has heavy traffic like SF and LA. It’s definitely the most relaxed city in California.

Along the Coast
I love exploring small cute towns and the central coast has so many of them. Kiran loves the many natural attractions along the coast.

I’ve always loved traveling. Since I was in the teens, I was planning trips with my family and friends. And we’ve done a lot of exploring in California, staying in different hotels and trying out the best restaurants. We’ve seen a lot, and we want to tell you all about it.
But here’s the twist – our travel tastes are as diverse as California itself. Kiran is all about nature. He loves going to national parks, state parks, and just being outdoors. I’m more into cities. I love visiting big cities like San Diego and cute little towns like Carmel-By-The-Sea. On our blog, you get the best of both worlds.
