Sitting on a cliff with ocean views, Birch Aquarium is the go-to spot to see sea life up close. You’ll see coral reefs, sharks, and rays – like Leopard Sharks, Bat Rays, and even the hard-to-spot Pacific Angel Shark. We loved seeing so many seahorses and seeing leafy sea dragons for the first time! Plus, watching the Little Blue Penguins, the world’s smallest penguins, get fed is seriously adorable. Tickets are $30 for adults, with discounts for kids (17 and under) and seniors (60+), but you can save money by grabbing a Go City San Diego pass.

King of Thai isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a taste of Thailand right in La Jolla. We ate there 4 times during our 3-day visit because the food was that good! With authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and recipes passed down for generations, every dish felt like a trip to Thailand. The elegant decor, friendly service, and top-notch food made it an unforgettable dining experience. If we didn’t have to leave, we’d have gone back for more!

They grow many of their fruits and vegetables in their own organic garden in Julian, CA, so everything is packed with flavor. We tried the Vegetarian Gourmet Sandwich, and it was incredible—like nothing we’ve ever had before! With European-inspired cooking, seasonal ingredients, and top-notch service, it’s the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Snorkeling or diving with leopard sharks in La Jolla Cove is an unforgettable experience. Guided tours provide all the gear you need – mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit – plus a quick lesson before you swim alongside these harmless sharks and colorful reef fish. You’ll need to be comfortable in the water, and access to sea caves depends on conditions. For the best experience, join an early morning tour (like the 10:30am option) when the water is clearer and crowds are smaller.
27. Take The Broken Hill Trail Before Sunset
Broken Hill in Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve offers one of the best sunset views in San Diego.
