1. Lovina

Located in Calistoga, the northernmost town in Napa Valley, Lovina is a cozy spot that immediately feels like you’re home. We split the Veggie Benedict and Spicy Almost Bolognese, both packed with flavor and super filling. Bonus: it’s a tip-free restaurant, as the menu prices are evenly split across the staff. 10/10 across the board.
2. Moro

Moro is one of the many restaurants to eat at in Oxbow Market in downtown Napa. We tried the chicken over salad first, and it was so good that we ordered a second one on the spot. The cauliflower was next-level (seriously, I could’ve eaten a bowl of just that), and the lamb with couscous is a people’s favorite. If you’re at Oxbow Market, don’t skip this place.
3. El Porteño

If you’re craving a quick bite that hits hard on flavor, El Porteño is another spot we loved at Oxbow Market. We tried the Champiñones empanada, and it was buttery, crispy, and packed with rich mushroom flavor. Local favorites include the chicken and beef ones, which are authentic with olives and raisins, and the cherry empanada. Service was fast and friendly.

4. Model Bakery

Headquartered in St. Helena, Model Bakery is a must-stop. We recommend trying the English muffin since it’s Oprah’s favorite and it’s crunchy and chewy in all the right places! And their local favorites include the sausage and chipotle bacon breakfast sandwiches because they are packed with flavor. Prices are a bit high, but the quality makes up for it. Take home a pack of muffins as a Napa Valley souvenir.
5. Oakville Grocery

This is a great spot to stop for lunch if you are on the go. We recommend both the chicken curry salad and the veggie sandwich turned into a salad. Even though they sound like simple items, they had a unique taste to it. Another local favorite you’ve got to try is their woodfired pizza and their coffee. The staff is friendly and the patio is a nice place to hang out and enjoy your food.
6. Gott’s Roadside

This Napa Valley spot offers elevated American comfort food with a laid-back, family-friendly vibe. Gott’s is perfect when you’re craving something classic after days of wine tastings and big meals. Recommend the crispy garlic fries and their chicken salads – full of flavor and filling. And their local favorites include the herbaceous ranch and the Impossible Cheeseburger. The outdoor seating is comfy, and they have heaters if it gets chilly.

We love Thai food, so we always want to try the best Thai spots in town. If you’re into Thai food, this place is worth checking out. The staff is friendly and the space feels warm and welcoming.

8. Sam’s General Store

Sam’s is a great little spot to grab coffee and relax for a bit. We recommend their local favorites, which include the Golden Latte because it is smooth and perfectly spiced. The breakfast burrito, avocado tartine, toast, and pastries are also solid picks. The space is cozy with indoor and outdoor seating, and there is a fire pit too. Staff is friendly, and the vibe is calm and welcoming. Great place to start your morning or take a break between winery visits.
9. Bouchon Bakery

Bouchon Bakery is always worth a stop if you have a sweet tooth. We enjoyed the OhOh, a rich chocolate sponge cake, and it was super delicious. Local favorites include the macarons, especially pistachio, since they really stand out. It can get busy, but the service moves fast, and everything is made with care. Grab a pastry, find a sunny spot, and enjoy the peaceful vibe.
10. Kollar Chocolates

Kollar Chocolates is the kind of spot you stumble into and then can’t stop thinking about. We tried one of their Easter themed bars, the carrot cake, and it was small but so rich in carrot cake flavor. We also recommend trying their bolder creations like the 72 percent dark chocolate with coffee Kahlua, whiskey, and red wine. The shop is spotless, the displays look like something out of a magazine, and the staff knows their stuff.
11. Erosion Tap House

Erosion Tap House is a fun and laid-back spot that stands out. We recommend the ice cream flight since you get to try 5 creative and tasty flavors. Also, the local favorites include the fresh waffle cones, plus a solid selection of beer and wine to pair with whatever you’re snacking on. The place has a chill vibe, friendly staff. Great stop if you’re into sports or just want something different.
12. Earth & Sky Chocolates

Their chocolates are so intricately detailed that they almost look too pretty to eat. We had the PB and J one, and it was super unique. Local favorites include the passion fruit with the green shell since it really stands out. Each piece is like a tiny work of art, and the flavors are rich and creative.
13. Mis Raices Coffee and Ice Cream Shop

This cozy little spot in downtown Calistoga is a great find. We recommend the Cappuccino with Almond ice cream. It’s so rich and creamy – it was like having a creamy and nutty Cappuccino. You can also try their local favorites, which include the honey lavender for something light and floral or the hot chocolates. The staff is friendly. There are a few seats inside, but it’s great for grabbing your treats to go and walking around downtown.

14. The French Laundry

You always hear about The French Laundry and the steep price tag but we’ve heard such good things about their items that it needed to be included on this list. Local favorites include the Oysters and Pearls, the truffle mac and lobster because each one is cooked perfectly. The dining room feels cozy and relaxed, and the staff makes the experience feel personal. If you get a chance to check out the kitchen or wine cellar, definitely do it.
15. Bouchon Bistro

Bouchon Bistro feels like a little French cafe tucked into Napa Valley. Favorites include the steak frites and escargot. The staff makes the experience feel easy and special. If you are craving classic French food in a cozy setting, this is the spot.
16. Ray Ray’s Tacos

Ray Ray’s Tacos is a fresh and fun spot right in the heart of St. Helena. We recommend their local favorites, like the Angelina tacos, which are packed with flavor and come with a cool twist from the pickled kumquats. Definitely worth a visit if you’re walking about downtown St. Helena.
17. Mini Model

This place is a mini version of The Model Bakery. It’s known for having the best breakfast sandwiches. Other favorites include the sausage and aioli combo and the popular English muffin.
