Charles Krug Winery is the oldest winery in Napa Valley, founded in 1861. It’s known for its elegant tasting room, scenic grounds, and a deep connection to Napa’s wine history. We liked learning about the family history while tasting some of the best wines. The outdoor patio is a popular spot on sunny days.

First started in St. Helena, The Model Bakery is famous for its English muffins, which were featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things list. They’re made fresh daily and usually sell out by early afternoon. The bakery also offers coffee, pastries, and sandwiches. We got there at 10am and there was a short line with a small crowd in the shop.

Also first established in St. Helena, Gott’s Roadside is a casual diner-style restaurant with a strong local following. The menu includes classic burgers, tacos, salads, and milkshakes. It’s all outdoor seating with most of them in the shade thanks to the umbrellas. While it’s also located in downtown Napa and other locations, we recommend coming to the first one.

We LOVED this option since we wanted to try a bunch of flavors but didn’t want a whole scoop of each. It’s connected to another space that’s a tap room with craft beer and wine.

We recommend checking out The Christopher Hill Gallery, Caldwell Snyder Gallery, MEUSE Gallery and AERENA Galleries & Gardens. A few had items for sale, including handmade ceramics and prints.

Sampling is encouraged, and it’s loved for its authentic charm.
